Morocco - Rabat (2)

On the bus to Rabat I met a woman who spoke nothing but Arab. She was really nice. She even offered me her home made bread that means a lot to Moroccan people – and I can say that it was the best bread I’ve eaten in Morocco.

Later on in Rabat I met a student from there - Nabil. He spoke great English, Spanish and French. He just had vacations and as he liked meeting new people and practicing languages, he stayed with me all the afternoon and the next day. I got a personal local guide who told me a lot about the Moroccan culture and we had great time.

One of the things he told me was that almost half of the girls in Morocco don’t wear the scarf that much. The costume began to disappear with the younger generation and the tourists that are entering the country to see its beauties and differences. Despite that I decided, as I was travelling alone and plus I’m a blond girl with blue eyes, to wear it. It was not something I had to do, ‘cause you can survive perfectly fine even without it, but it felt right and at least from my point of view it showed my respect to their culture and I think they also they respected me more because of that.

So also this day I found out a couple of things:

1) Moroccans are (men and women) great people, very hospitable, respectful and great all in all!

2) Even if you travel alone there is not much chance you’ll end up lonely, there’s (almost) always someone you can talk to!
